[SNEAK PEEK!] The Newest Getaway at Batam: HARRIS Resort Barelang

Ever wanted to just chill and relax at a nice resort, which is equipped with everything you need to have an enjoyable time with your loved ones? The first place that came to my mind was to visit the Nongsa area that is lined with established resorts.

Now, I have found a new jewel in the South of Batam Island– HARRIS Resort Barelang, just an hour of ferry ride from Singapore! The resort is well furnished with amenities that will please people from all ages (be it a child or the young at heart 😉). At this resort, you will get to experience an extraordinary getaway, like I did. Read on to find out more!

Departure from Singapore

There are several ferry services operating the route between Singapore (both Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and Harbourfront Ferry Terminal) and Batam Centre. There is a scheduled departure almost every hour from 7am to 9pm.

Arrival in Batam

Upon arrival at Batam Centre Ferry Terminal, my shuttle service has yet to arrive so I ventured across the overhead bridge to the Mega Mall. I was starving after an hour of ferry ride, so I stopped by Bakso Lapangan Tembak (2nd Floor) to have a delicious lunch.

The must-try Mie Bakso (Beef Ball Noodles)

Nasi Goreng Kampung (Traditional Fried Rice) and Jus Alpukat (Avocado Juice)

At the arranged time, I went back to the Ferry Terminal and boarded my bright orange HARRIS shuttle to the Resort. The journey took about 20 mins in light traffic and I arrived at the beautiful and brightly-lit lobby of HARRIS Resort.

Check-in was rather efficient and smooth. The staffs were very friendly whilst they assisted me.

Before boarding my buggy, I took a quick look of the breakfast and sitting areas, which looked superb.

Thereafter, I was escorted to my room by a buggy and it made me felt like a VIP at a luxurious resort!

There are 5 different types of rooms – Garden View, Pool View, Sea View, HARRIS Suite and HARRIS Villa. I stayed at the Pool View room, which had a partial view of the pool area and the beach. The room was big and I felt at home immediately. This is the second property under the HARRIS brand to offer IPTV, which has a wide variety of 60 cable channels, Youtube and Internet browsing.

My room was well-stocked with various amenities to make my stay comfortable.

In the evening, I took a short swim at one of the four swimming pools in the resort.

Not to mention, the bedding was very comfortable and I fell asleep, skipping both dinner and next day’s breakfast! By the time I woke up, it was 11 am and I decided to take a walk around the resort. Scroll the image slider to see how beautiful the resort is.

It was a pleasant stay at HARRIS Resort Barelang and I’m truly impressed with the services provided by the friendly staff. They were never without a smile and you will be greeted with a jovial “Cheers!” whenever you see them around. To be honest, there were times I totally forgot the fact that I’m in Batam! The experience made me felt like I was at a nice villa in Bali instead! If you are looking for a short getaway without having to travel far, this is definitely the best location for you.
